. Intended for youths 11 years of age and older who want to look after infants and young children.

. Participants learn basic skills to prepare them to deal with emergency situations

. Plus general principles of caring for infants and young children.

First Aid on the Farm  
($50)  1 day  

. Intended for students and/or families who live and/or work on a farm.

. Learn to recognize potential farm hazards 

. provide immediate First Aid for farm-related injuries.

 

We Can Help    (free to Gr 3 classes) 10 lessons  

. Is an introduction to basic First Aid and safety skills and basic injury prevention messages.

. is a modular interactive program intended for youth between 7 and 10 years of age

. Led by a school teacher or community facilitator.

FREE to all Grade 3 students in Alberta through the generous support of the Masons.

Children’s Restraint Systems Technician (CRST) Training  
($125)    2 days

This course provides training to become a certified technician who can provide information and assistance to parents, caregivers, and others in the correct installation of child safety seats in vehicles and in child passenger safety.

. Comprised of a 13-hour course plus a practical component of 2-4 hours

. Topics include injury prevention and general occupant and vehicle restraint information, regulations, and specific restraint systems.

. Certification period: 3 years

. Min. age: 18 years

Children’s Restraint Systems Technician Training (CRST) Recertification  ($50)   1/2 day   

In partnership with Alberta Health Services, St. John Ambulance is pleased to offer a Children’s Restraint Systems Technician recertification course. This half day class is designed to recertify CRS Technicians whose certificate is due to expire or has expired within six months of the course date. Technicians will be provided information to ensure current knowledge and skill levels. To successfully recertify technicians are required to:

· Bring to class a summary of CRS activities you completed during your 3 year certification period (e.g. inspections completed, info sessions provided, training updates attended, etc.)

· Attend the course and obtain a minimum of 80% on the final written examination

· Successfully demonstrate the required
practical skill components
