Good to Know ...

If you can't find a scheduled course for your group,

St. John can organize a private course for you at our facilities or yours.
                         Please call your
local centre for more info.

Your group may be eligible for group discounts. Some exceptions -
     ie EMR courses, and others.

                         Please call your
local centre for more info.

You can save money and time by taking a recertification course
Recertification courses are shorter by a day or two, depending
on the course. They also cost less than a full course and the
resullting certificate, if successful, is good for 3 years.

However, they must be taken before your current certificate expires.
Prerequisite is a full course within past 3 years. Examples include
Standard First Aid, Advanced First Aid, CPR C/AED, and Health
Care Provider. EMR has a refresher course rather than a
                        recertification course.

                        Please call your
local centre for more information.

Your company can run First Aid Drills with the help of St. John
St. John Staff will work with you to develop realistic scenarios on
your site in order to perform trial runs of potential incidents.
All staff involved will be given feedback on what they did well and how
                        to improve their response.

You are invited to get team together and participate in the St. John
     Provincial First Aid Competions
                        There are four categories:
. Emergency First Aid / level A CPR
. Standard First Aid / level C CPR
. Advanced First Aid & HCP CPR
. Emergency Responder (MFR, EMR, EMT, Paramedic or
                                  higher
 levels of training)

Join teams from across the province, and across industry, to compete
for best First Aid Team in your category.

For details on the Competitions held Saturday, April 30th in Edmonton,
                        please
 see the Competitions page.

St. John has more than 1000 nationally-certified instructors all across
     the province

Instructors are trained to national standards, team teach before
they are monitored in a class on their own, and, if successful, are
then certified. St. John Instructors must teach and attend workshops
                       to maintain their certification.

St. John Ambulance has been teaching and providing First Aid services

in Canada for more than 125 years. St. John Ambulance came to Alberta in 1897.
By 1911, close to 100 people were trained in First Aid in both

Edmonton and Calgary. You'll find St. John Ambulance in all of
Alberta's major cities (Edmonton, Calgary, Red Deer, Grande Prairie,
Fort McMurray, Lethbridge and Medicine Hat).

Research has proven that a safe workplace improves the bottom line.

By choosing St. John Ambulance programs, you are also giving
back to your community by supporting volunteers who deliver First Aid
     and other community service programs.
