Quality Assurance Program

T
he goal of the St. John Ambulance Quality Assurance Program

is to ensure that our courses are of the highest standard.

• St. John Ambulance is a national organization with offices
from coast to coast that offer the same high standards and
   consistent First Aid training

• Quality assurance in St. John Ambulance is a formalized process
that begins with program research and development that
encompasses best practices on an international scale

• First Aid standards are set and maintained at the national level
in consultation with medical and education advisors.

• In addition to meeting national standards through extensive
examinations, prospective instructors in Alberta are required to
sign an instructor agreement and provide evidence of a clear
   criminal record check

• Mandatory instructor monitoring and recertification ensure that
   instructors stay current and effective.

• Each course has an instructor’s guide that ensures consistency of
   standards and content.

• At the student level, all programs require feedback in the form
   of student evaluation forms

• Every graduate of a First Aid course receives a certificate with
an expiration date. Each certificate is numbered and electronically
recorded in a centralized national database for ease of retrieval.

• St. John Ambulance is an international charitable organization
with a 900 year history of service
