 A Must Have Course for outdoor enthusiasts 
or those who work in remote or isolated areas

The St. John Ambulance Wilderness Program has been redesigned to offer greater flexibility to individuals who wish to have training in dealing with First Aid emergencies in wilderness settings. This course is taught in a park location to be determined in each SJA Centre.

The Wilderness program is available in 3 levels:
     

Wilderness Level I

 

 

 

is geared to the day hiker and/or those individuals that are in an outdoor setting but are close to advanced medical help.

No prerequisite        
1 day      $85   
                 

 

      

Wilderness Level Il

 

 

 

 

includes the information from level I and is designed for individuals working or participating in activities in more remote settings. This level incorporates in depth information on movement of a sick or injured person as well as some environment-specific knowledge.

Prerequisite:
Standard First Aid with CPR
2 days   $150

 

 

Wilderness Level Ill

 

 

 

 

 

Wilderness Level III includes information from levels I and II and integrates more advanced First Aid skills and knowledge for those individuals who are in isolated wilderness settings and includes information on dealing with stress and the psychological aspects of dealing with a First Aid emergency in a wilderness setting.

Prerequisite:
Standard First Aid with CPR
3 days     $225

All levels of Wilderness First Aid are offered as public or private classes through any of the seven St. John locations in Alberta.

SJA Knots & Whatnots
SJA First on the Scene Pocket Guide
SJA CPR training Pack

Participants in the Wilderness Level II and III will also receive:
Wayne Merry’s SJA Official Wilderness First Aid Guide
