Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
No matter where you are, people of all ages can suffer heart failure. From choking to cardiac arrest, the situation is life-threatening and requires swift, effective response. Knowing what to do can save a life. St. John Ambulance can give you the skills you need. Here is an outline of the Levels of CPR available. Also referred to as Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS).
 

CPR-A (Adult) for Lay Rescuers
This course is appropriate for the lay public. Lesson topics are presented through a variety of instructor-led activities, DVDs, review, and skills practice sessions.

Content:
 Emergency Scene Management
 Shock, Unconsciousness & Fainting
 Choking
 Cardiovascular Emergencies
 One Rescuer Adult CPR and Introduction to AED

TOTAL TIME: 3:00 (no break) 


CPR-A (Adult and Child) for Lay Rescuers
This course is appropriate for the lay public. Lesson topics are presented through a variety of instructor-led activities, DVDs, review, and skills practice sessions.

Content:
 Emergency Scene Management
 Shock, Unconsciousness & Fainting
 Choking
 Cardiovascular Emergencies
 One Rescuer Adult CPR and Introduction to AED
 Child Resuscitation

TOTAL TIME: 3:45 plus 15 minute break 

CPR-B for Lay Rescuers
This course is appropriate for parents, family members and the general public. Lesson topics are presented through a variety of instructor-led activities, DVDs, review, and skills practice sessions.

Content:
 Emergency Scene Management
 Shock, Unconsciousness & Fainting
 Choking
 CPR and Introduction to AED
 One Rescuer Adult CPR
 Child Resuscitation
 Infant Resuscitation

TOTAL TIME: 4:15 plus 15 minute break 

CPR-C for Lay Rescuers
This course is designed for lay rescuers and others whose environment poses a low risk of having to perform CPR on a frequent basis. Lesson topics are presented through a variety of instructor-led activities, DVDs, review, and skills practice sessions.
 
Content:
 Emergency Scene Management
 Shock, Unconsciousness & Fainting
 Choking
 CPR and Introduction to AED
 One Rescuer Adult CPR
 Child Resuscitation
 Infant Resuscitation
 Two Rescuer CPR

TOTAL TIME: 5:00 plus 45 minute break 

CPR-C Renewal for Lay Rescuers
An advanced course designed for professional rescuers who have taken the course previously. Lesson topics are presented through a variety of instructor-led activities, DVDs, review, and skills practice sessions.

 Emergency Scene Management
 Shock, Unconsciousness and Fainting
 Choking
 CPR and Introduction to AED
 One Rescuer Adult CPR
 Child Resuscitation
 Infant Resuscitation
 Two Rescuer CPR

TOTAL TIME: 3:45 plus 15 minute break

CPR-C with AED for Lay Rescuers
