Program Description:

The St. John Ambulance Instructor Certification Program (ICP) will qualify participants to be St. John Ambulance instructors upon successful completion. This program is suitable for first aid attendants,  firefighters, health care providers, school teachers, coaches, company trainers, St. John Brigade members, and others who have a strong history of first aid training, a positive attitude, professional appearance and exceptional interpersonal skills.

The ICP involves a seies of 6 STEPS, which prepare candidates to become St. John Ambulance instructors. The steps of the program include:

1. first aid background
2. pre-requisite courses
3. ICP Instuctor course
4. team training
5. monitoring
6. instructor certification

Requirements:

1. First aid background (combination of Standard First Aid or equivalent certification and experience).
2. Professional attitude and appearance.
3. Good command of the English language.
4. Willingness to learn and constantly improve.
5. Patience and willingness to adapt to meet the needs of different learning styles.
6. Teach two first aid classes annually, as well as attend required workshops when necessary, in order to maintain your certification and “active” status.
