125th Anniversary Volunteer Appreciation Reception

Thursday June 19, 2008

To kick-off the festivities, volunteers from across Canada received awards for their exceptional leadership, distinctive service and lifesaving skills at the Volunteer Appreciation Reception held at the historic Army Officers’ Mess. “In this special anniversary year, we felt it was important to recognize the outstanding contributions made by our volunteers,” says Dawn Roach, Priory of Canada Secretary.

Special guest, Major-General Walter Semianiw, O.M.M., C.D., Chief Military Personnel, presented St. John Ambulance Chancellor, John Mah, with the special Canadian Forces “Medallion for Distinguished Service.”

“On behalf of the Chief of Defence Staff and the Canadian Forces, I would like to express our thanks to St. John Ambulance for allowing the Canadian Forces to be part of this 125th  anniversary celebration. The Canadian Forces, with all Canadians, recognizes the thousands of volunteers who through their professionalism, dedication and passion to St. Johns over the past 125 years have made St. John Ambulance the great Canadian landmark that it is. I know that I speak on behalf of all men and women in uniform when I say that for us, St. John Ambulance means one thing, caring.”
