Senior Training Advisor
St. John Ambulance, National Office

Position Title: Senior Training Advisor
Department: Research Training and Program Development
Compensation: $65,000
Hours of Work: Typical hours of work are Monday to Friday, from 9:00am – 5:00pm.
Duration: 1 year term contract, with the possibility of extension or full-time employment.

JOB SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Director, Training Research and Program Development, the Senior
Training Advisor is responsible for assigned training program portfolio(s) and projects.
Responsibilities include:

  • developing new St. John training programs assigned by the Director of Training Research and Program Development
  • managing program files as assigned
  • researching and reporting on changes to government legislation/regulations at the federal and provincial levels with respect to workplace safety, accreditation and equivalencies
  • remaining up to date on professional standards and protocols relating to CPR, first aid, and paramedicine
  • evaluating and updating St. John programs and materials to ensure compliance with regulations and standards
  • participating in program planning, risk assessment, implementation, monitoring and evaluation
  • representing St. John at meetings, conferences etc. as requested by Director
  • developing performance matrix and metrics for St. John nationally
  • providing guidance and advice to Director

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

A university degree in adult education.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

  • experience training adult learners
  • experience in curriculum development, program delivery, monitoring and evaluation
  • experience in instructor development
  • well developed research and analytical skills
  • excellent writing skills and effective presentation skills
  • knowledge of relevant legislation, regulation and acts
  • initiative and a sense of team work

LANGUAGE

Proficiency in both official languages (English/French) is required.

COMPENTENCIES, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • ability to work with Microsoft Suite of products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;
  • ability to communicate effectively,
  • ability to work effectively, in the absence of immediate supervision and as part of a team;
  • ability to manage multiple and competing priorities;
  • knowledge of adult education principles;
  • knowledge of training delivery methodologies, including classroom and online environments;
  • possess the tact and diplomacy required to successfully interact with others and represent the organization; and
  • possess strong research skills.
