National Service of Remembrance Ceremony

Date: Saturday, June 26, 2010
Time: 11:00 a.m.
Location: Ottawa, Ontario — National War Memorial

St. John Ambulance is very proud of its ongoing connection with the Canadian Armed Forces. Volunteers from our organizations were present in the South African War and the First and Second World Wars. In the two  great conflicts of the twentieth century, Canadians served as Voluntary Aid Detachment (VAD) personnel, offering nursing and other services, usually in military hospital settings. These volunteers were formally recognized as veterans by Veterans Affairs Canada, though they served as civilians and were not members of the Armed Services.
