Get prepared with St. John Ambulance emergency kits

May 4, 2008 Ottawa – Is your family prepared for an emergency? During national Emergency Preparedness Week [May 4 – 10], St. John Ambulance [SJA] is promoting the importance of preparedness by offering affordable, ready-made emergency preparedness kits for home and work.

“Canadians have had their fair share of natural and human disasters,” says Ian Bennett, Chief Executive Officer, St. John Ambulance. “Families tell us that the SJA ready kits have everything they need to help them cope on their own, for at least the first 72 hours, following a disaster.”

  • Emergency preparedness ready kit $59.95
  • Easy-carry, deluxe backpack includes 72-hour first aid supplies, radio, flashlight and more
  • Emergency preparedness ready meal plus kit $44.95
  • 72-hour supply of food and water for 1 person

St. John Ambulance teams are also hosting interactive emergency response simulations; kit assembly demonstrations; public presentations; and competitions to provide hands-on experience in “getting prepared.”

Visit  www.sja.ca  to find out more and to learn about preparing and coping with an emergency such as creating a family emergency plan, knowing the risks, and ensuring the right materials are available to sustain your family for a 72-hour period.

More than 125 years of first aid experience is built into every St. John Ambulance kit. Proceeds from the more than 50,000 emergency ready kits sold so far, go towards community programs and services delivered by volunteers.
