St. John Ambulance’s CPR and AED training helps save lives during Healthy Heart Month

February 14, 2008, Ottawa, Ontario—St. John Ambulance Chancellor, John Mah, is challenging Canadians to sign up for a Cardio Pulmonary Recusitation (CPR) or Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training course during Health Heart Month.

Sadly, many Canadians die as a result of the 80 per cent of cardiac arrests that are suffered at home or in public places*. While each year, over 550,000 Canadians receive first aid training from St. John Ambulance, Chancellor Mah wants Canadians to take a simple step to try and “up the odds” for survival.

Learning or refreshing your knowledge of CPR has never been simpler, as we offer a state-of-the-art combination of personalized learn-as-you-go training programs aimed at making it easier to learn. In as little as four hours, you can learn valuable life-saving skills that can be used at work, home and play.

So take up the challenge! Contact your local St. John Ambulance office or visit www.sja.ca to find out how to sign up for a CPR or AED course. It’s an easy first step to saving a life.

Saving Lives, at work, home and play is St. John Ambulance’s motto and in 2008 we are celebrating 125 years of helping Canadians do just that.
