During the reception, Parliamentarians will have the opportunity to meet St. John volunteers, including those from our Therapy Dog Program. Three heroic Canadians will receive Life-saving Awards from St. John Ambulance in recognition of their knowledge and use of first aid in saving lives.
The reception is part of the 2017 St. John Ambulance Day on the Hill, an event showcasing a new and innovative youth program “
SJA Connect”, sharing advances in Mental Health First Aid training and highlighting the good works of St. John Ambulance and the charitable services it provides in communities all across Canada.
“St. John continues to make a significant contribution to Canadians from coast to coast to coast. “SJA Connect” is a new approach to youth involvement. It gives youth an opportunity to engage with their communities and learn essential life and job skills in a flexible, self-directed learning environment. It is a truly unique program.” — Philip Clarke, Chancellor and Chair of the Board for St. John Ambulance
