St. John Ambulance Bursary & Scholarship Awards Program can help you reach your goal
 

St. John Ambulance’s Bursaries and Scholarships are ONLY available to volunteers who are members of St. John Ambulance Community Services programs.

Candidates must:

  • be active members in good standing with St. John Ambulance
  • demonstrate academic achievement, leadership qualities, a commitment to high standards in their chosen careers and a dedication to upholding the ideals of the Order of St. John and to continue to serve their community through St. John Ambulance

Nursing Studies

Margaret MacLaren Memorial Fund, established in 1963 for candidates demonstrating academic achievement, with a keen interest in pursing nursing as a profession.

$500 part-time
$1000 full time

The number of awards disbursed is dependant on funds raised.

Entering or continuing, full or part-time studies in Canada in nursing at the diploma, baccalaureate or graduate level.
Demonstrate financial need.
Demonstrate academic achievement.

This award in not intended for RPN or paramedic studies.

Complete & return Nursing Bursary Application form along with all required documentation.

First time applicants must provide two references, transcripts and proof of admissions.

Continuing aid applicants are not required to provide references, but transcripts and proof of admissions is required.

Kathleen Gilmour Memorial Award, established in 1982 for candidates demonstrating leadership and above average commitment to a high standard of nursing.

A single $1,000 award to qualifying candidate (dependant on funds available).

Continuing aid not available.

Entering or continuing, full or part-time studies in Canada in nursing at the diploma, baccalaureate or graduate level.
Demonstrate financial need.
Demonstrate academic achievement.

This award in not intended for RPN or paramedic studies.

Elaine Laurin Award, established in 1993 for nursing studies focusing on community health care, gerontology or child and family health.

A single $1,000 award to qualifying candidate (dependant on funds available).

Entering or continuing, full or part-time studies in Canada in nursing at the diploma, baccalaureate or graduate level.
Demonstrate financial need.
Demonstrate academic achievement.

Chancellors’ Medical Bursary, established in 2004 for first year medical studies only.

Entering first year post-secondary medical studies in a recognized Canadian university.

Other Studies

James A. Albery Youth Bursary, established in 1998 for post-secondary education in any field of study (other than nursing or medical) including apprenticeship and certificate programs.

$500 award to qualifying candidate(s)

Candidates must be under the age of 21 as of July 31, have been awarded the Grand Prior’s Award, entering or continuing post-secondary education in Canada.

Applicants must provide two references, transcripts, proof of admissions, proof of age, proof of receipt of Grand Prior’s Award and essay

Diane Perry Scholarship, established in 2003 for post-secondary studies (field of studies to be determined) and demonstrate a commitment to their communities through continued involvement with St. John Ambulance.
