Mt. Pearl Division, NL Council

Who are we?

The Mount Pearl Division of St. John Ambulance was formed in 1996 as a Bike Patrol Division where members would ride the trail system of Mount Pearl providing First Aid as needed. Since then, our Brigade has grown in numbers, continuing to provide First Aid at public events throughout the City of Mt. Pearl and surrounding area.

Community Support

In 2007 St. John Ambulance received a $30,000 sponsorship from Tim Hortons which enabled us to purchase a new Mobile First Aid Post and hence have volunteers attend more community public events to provide first aid services.

In 2005 the City of Mount Pearl presented the Mount Pearl Division with its Community Builders Award for service to the City.

In 2002 the Mount Pearl Division was recognized by St. John Ambulance National Office as co-recipients of the Alice Alberta Ritchie Trophy for outstanding Brigade contribution during a time of disaster or crisis. The members of the Mount Pearl, St. John's Goulds and Conception Bay South Divisions all responded and provided 24 hour support to the stranded passengers of 9/11, earning the recognition for this award.

Communities count on the Brigade for peace of mind and we're proud of that. Each year, St. John Ambulance members volunteer more than 2 million hours of community service to meet differing community needs across Canada (such as first aid services, Therapy Dog visits, search and rescue, ski patrol, canteen services, and senior and invalid support). Consider that first aid assistance is worth about $14 per hour.* That means St. John Ambulance volunteers contribute over $28 million worth of community services to Canadians each year.

Donations

It takes a considerable amount of time, effort, and money to make our division run smoothly.

Our division does not receive any ongoing funding from government agency's. We are a self-sufficient organiztion, and rely almost 100% on donations from the community and the people we service.

Our division does not solicit donations through active fund raising. If you wish to contribute to our division, please contact us or to click here learn more.
