Medical First Responder, NL Council
Some workplaces are more hazardous than others. St. John Ambulance, Canada's leader in first aid training and products, offers Advanced Level Training to those who require first-to-respond skills.

The Medical First Responder program is ideal for anyone who must handle first response in an emergency. From emergency professionals such as firefighters and police, to industry workers in high-risk environments, the Medical First Responder program can provide you with advanced skills to save a life when serious injury occurs.

Three levels of advanced first aid training are available for First Responders and others with specific first aid responsibilities. The customized training programs can include the following modules:
 
  • Oxygen Therapy
  • Advanced Assessment Skills
  • Automated External Defibrillation

St. John Ambulance Community Service volunteers for public events are all trained to the Medical First Responder level. You know you are in good hands with St. John Ambulance.
 
Medical First Responder (3 day)
Designed for those who provide emergency pre-hospital care, this course covers medical and trauma related emergencies in both theory and practice. Course content includes patient assessment, spinal immobilization, oxygen administration and much more.
 
Advanced Medical First Responder Level I (5 days)
This comprehensive skills-oriented training program is designed for persons providing emergency pre-hospital care such as safety personnel, police, fire, and emergency response teams. Learn to handle medical and trauma related emergencies as a first responder; course content includes Primary and Secondary Patient Assessment, Spinal Immobilization, Oxygen Administration, and much more. This course meets Occupational Health and Safety First Aid regulations for worksites of 200 or more.
 
Advanced Medical First Responder Level II (10 day)
This skills-oriented program is designed for persons charged with responding to medical and trauma related emergencies and whose primary responsibility is emergency response. This in-depth program prepares professional health and safety personnel to provide emergency and extended care in remote or high risk areas.
 
Advanced Medical First Responder (EMR Ambulance) (10 day)
This skills-oriented program is designed persons charged with responding to medical and trauma related emergencies and whose primary responsibility is emergency response. This program meets the National Occupational Competency Profile (NOCP) for EMR practitioners. This course is recognized as equivalent to the Emergency Medical Responder II program. Standard First Aid and Level HCP CPR
