Instructor Development Program

 Instructor Development Program (IDP):
The St. John Ambulance Instructor Development Program is recognized as one of the best of its kind. The IDP course is a module program that focuses on applying the latest principles of adult education. Some topics discussed include the qualities of a good instructor, proper questioning techniques and use of training aids. Student teaching sessions give the opportunity to practice first aid and presentation skills while applying current principles of adult education.

Pre-requisites:
Candidates must hold a valid St. John Ambulance Standard First Aid/CPR Level "C" certification issued within the past 12 months. Students must also complete a pre-course package prior to the IDP start date.
Time: 5 days

Instructor Development Program + WHMIS Instructor Program:
Add 4 hours to the IDP course and be certified as a WHMIS instructor as well! For only an extra $60- SAVE $240!!

Instructor Development Program Recertification (ICP-R):
For our current First Aid/CPR Instructors, we offer Instructor Recertification Workshops across the province. Students should book a course before the end of their 3 year certification. Contact your local SJA office for workshop dates and locations.
Pre-Requisite: Instructor Certification
Time: 1 day
Fee: $75 per person

WHMIS Instructor Program:
The WHMIS Instructor Program equips the student with the necessary skills and knowledge to teach WHMIS. It employs the same principles and teaching methods as our signature Instructor Certification Program.
Time: 3 days
Fee: $300 per person

Defensive Driving/ Professional Driver Improvement Instructor Course:
This five day program provides students with the skills required to teach the Canada Safety Council six-hour Defensive Driving Course or the Professional Driver Improvement Course. The emphasis for this program will be on instructional technique. Students will review the content of the Defensive Driving and Professional Driver Improvement programs and then, using the principles of adult education, present various components of the course.
Time: 5 days
Fee: $850 per certificate or $1300 for BOTH certificates (save $400)
