Schools of Paramedicine

The Maritime School of Paramedicine, Nova Scotia’s only English language program in Primary and Advanced Care Paramedicine, delivers an education with uncompromising standards of excellence that prepare graduates for the demands of a career in paramedicine. The program provides a solid theoretical and practical education covering all of the applied arts and sciences, placing a strong emphasis on self-directed learning and critical thinking.

The Maritime School of Paramedicine aims to develop paramedics who possess sound knowledge and skills, an unwavering commitment to excellence in all that they do, and a deep sense of professionalism and caring. Graduates become an asset to their communities as well as to the profession of paramedicine.

Our programs are designed to provide:

1. Concepts and theories
2. Mastery of professional skills, and
3. A professional attitude

In addition to serving as academic advisors and facilitators, the faculty members at the school strive to instill a commitment to lifelong learning in their students. This commitment is, in fact, the key objective of all programs at the school. Faculty members cultivate an environment in which self-directed learning is not only prized, but expected.
This expectation is the result of the very nature of the medical field, which is constantly evolving, and the fact that today’s paramedics are held accountable for a wider range of responsibilities than ever before. Therefore, to succeed in a profession as dynamic as paramedicine, students must be inquisitive and dedicated to expanding their expertise and abilities. Such ongoing professional development helps to ensure a lifetime of challenge and enrichment.
