Q. Who are Medical First Responders?
A. Medical First Responders are a group of volunteers trained to provide first aid and health care at public events. These members are a vital link between the occurrence of injury or illness and the arrival of medical assistance.

Q. What qualifications do I need to join the volunteer Medical First Responder Team?
A. You need a current Standard First Aid and CPR certificate -combined with a genuine interest and willingness to serve your community. We'll provide Medical First Response training that will qualify you as a volunteer Medical First Responder and keep your skills current.

Q. What is the time commitment?
A. A trained volunteer contributes 3 to 4 hours per week – with a minimum of 60 hours per year of direct service to your community. St. John Ambulance volunteers often contribute many hours every year - because it’s rewarding and fun!

Q. What are the age requirements?
A.
Medical First Responder Program: 16 years old
Therapy Dog Program: 18 years old
Youth Program: From 6 years old.

Q. How will the public know I am a St. John Ambulance Medical First Responder?
A. Members are recognized by their distinctive uniforms, the St. John Ambulance logo and the St. John Ambulance identity tag.
