Get Your Survival 3D Kit
St. John Ambulance wants you to be prepared for an emergency

December 1, 2011 (Toronto, ON) – If an emergency was declared in your community and you had to evacuate, what would you take with you? If you had to unexpectedly shelter at home or work, would you have everything you need to survive comfortably for three days? Every year natural disasters wreak havoc on Ontario cutting off power, threatening homes and displacing people.

To encourage people to prepare for an emergency St. John Ambulance has launched the Survival 3D Campaign. The campaign is geared at encouraging people across Ontario to be prepared in case of a disaster. One of the most important parts of the Survival 3D Campaign is the Survival 3D kit. The Survival 3D kit is an easy to transport emergency preparedness kit designed to last an individual three days. The kit contains items critical to sheltering at home, including:

  • 12 hour light sticks, water bag, fitters gloves, tissues, a St. John Ambulance Compact Kit, silver rescue foil sheets, waterproof matches, candle, hand warmers, call police banner, a whistle, radio (with batteries) and an industrial flashlight (with batteries).

All contained within an easy to carry knapsack. The Survival 3D kit has enough room for a person to customize their kit to meet their individual needs. St. John Ambulance would suggest adding the follow items:

  •  Water (enough to drink, cook and clean hands with), non-perishable food, medication/prescriptions, insurance papers, extra house/car keys, cash, warm clothing, comfortable shoes, extra pair of glasses/contacts, toiletries, hand sanitizer/waterless soap, cards and a blanket.

A Survival 3D kit is just one part of your emergency preparedness plan. St. John Ambulance would like to encourage families to think about a disaster plan. If you have to shelter at home or work, which room is the safest/warmest? If you have to leave your house how will you contact your family and where will you meet them? What about your pets? There are lots of factors to consider, it’s important to think of them ahead of time.
