Automated External Defibrillation (AED)
Automated External Defibrillation (AED) is a life-saving technique that is revolutionizing first aid and prehospital cardiac care. St. John Ambulance programs offer a review and practice of CPR skills as well as training in the use of AED equipment.

In Canada, thousands of people of all ages suffer sudden cardiac arrest each year.  Since the majority
happen within the home, it means that a family member will likely be the person who will be required to
administer CPR until medical help arrives.  Early administered CPR and AED vastly increases the victim's
chance of survival.

St. John Ambulance offers training in the specific type of AED equipment used by clients, including basic care and documentation. Our instructors have the highest expertise based on our commitment to ongoing training, review and active involvement with the use of the equipment in real-life situations.

AED training can be blended with any St. John Ambulance first aid and CPR course.

AED's are light weight, portable and easy to use; they are ideal for the use in workplaces, public facilities,
health care facilities; by sports teams and even in the home.
