Medical First Responders
Most St. John Ambulance instructors and volunteers are trained in an advanced first aid program entitled “Medical First Responder”. The 10 day program complies with the Paramedic Association of Canada’s Emergency Medical Responder guidelines. This program is used by Canadian Coast Guard Rescue Specialists, Reserve Medical Corps attached to the Department of National Defence, industry, volunteer fire departments and other medical first responders.

Automated External Defibrillators (AED)

Sudden cardiac arrest occurs when the rhythm
of the heart becomes irregular due to the electrical system going out of sync.  CPR is important, but it alone cannot restore the rhythm of the heart back to normal.  Shocking the heart with an AED will restore the normal beating rhythm and is the victim's best chance of survival.

Purchase an AED from St. John Ambulance and
make your home,
public facility or workplace safer.  Learn more» about the St. John AED Program.
