There are countless ways that you can make a difference as a St. John Ambulance volunteer. You can build a better future for Canada’s young people by becoming a part of our Youth Services Program as a Youth Leader. You can bring comfort to residents of hospitals and nursing homes by taking part in our Therapy Dog Services Program. St. John Ambulance Volunteer Recognition

For more than a 125 years in Canada, volunteers have been the core of St. John Ambulance. Canadians of all ages and backgrounds offer their time and skills to serve their community. Skills Development
Being a volunteer at St John Ambulance not only provides you with the opportunity to serve your community, but it also helps you build diverse skills. Volunteer Medical First Responders are trained in advanced first aid and health-care services. As part of St. John Ambulance Therapy Dog Services volunteer-handlers and their dogs are trained in providing care to patients. The Youth Program develops skills according to the child’s age group, from fun, health-oriented learning to youth leadership and supervision of youngest.


Community Role
Our volunteers contribute nearly two million hours to our communities. St. John Ambulance’s volunteers are present at sports events, at festivals, at concerts or any community gathering. Communities in Canada are a safer place thanks to St. John Ambulance’s multiple community services.
