Health Care Provider CPR

Course Duration : 8-9 Hours (One Day)

Certification Period :  Annual Recertification Recommended


Recertification : 4-6 Hours     (Day or evening)

This course is tailored to meet the most stringent CPR standards targeted to specific groups such as Healthcare Providers (physicians, nurses, paramedics, etc.)
Allied Healthcare providers (RT, OT, PT, etc.)

CPR for Healthcare Providers (HCPs)
There are certain differences in CPR skills for healthcare professionals compared to lay
rescuers. The following will outline these differences:
1. Activation of EMS- in adult casualties who have experienced an asphyxial arrest ,
HCPs who are alone will learn to provide cycles of CPR before activating EMS.
2. Opening the Airway- HCPS will learn to use the jaw thrust without head tilt to open the
airway in casualties with suspected spinal injury.
3. Rescue Breathing- HCPs will learn to provide artificial respiration without chest compressions for non- breathing casualties with a pulse. Infants and chiildren with a pulse rate of less than 60 beats per minute and who show signs of poor perfusion despite oxygen and ventilation should receive chest compression. 
BVM-Bag Valve Mask Training included.
4. Determining circulation- HCPs will learn to check for pulses in unresponsive casualties. In
adults the carotid pulse will be checked. In children the carotid or femoral pulse can be
used. In infants the brachial or femoral pulse can be checked.
5. CPR- HCPs will learn to perform 2 rescuer Adult, child or infant CPR.
For infants the 2 thumb- encircling hands should be used.

AED-Automated External Defibrillator Operator Certification included.


Public courses are available February 07, April 11, June 06 and August 08, 2010

Individuals can register by telephone with a credit card, VISA, MC or in person at our office located at 5 Corvus Court during business hours 0830-1600, Monday to Friday or by mail.
