Be an Instructor

Do you have what it takes to teach?

When asked, our clients consistently tell us they are “satisfied" or "very satisfied" with the quality of instruction they receive. We attribute this, in part, to our Instructor Certification Program. To help maintain our high national standards for our instructors, our instructors pass a pre-course "Theoretical Threshold Exam," complete a 30-hour instructional techniques course and are monitored in the classroom before being qualified to instruct unassisted. To stay qualified, instructors must teach a required number of courses per year and be successfully monitored on an ongoing basis.

There are two Instructor certification programs:

  1. Instructor Certification Program
(For people who want to become instructors in first aid and CPR.)
  2. Instructor-Trainer Certification Program
    (An Instructor-Trainer development program.)

Are you interested in keeping your first aid skills at a high level? Do you enjoy sharing your knowledge? We are always looking for competent, dedicated people who would like to earn extra income while helping to educate the public. For more information on becoming a certified St. John Ambulance First Aid and CPR Instructor, contact the St. John Ambulance office in your area today.

What are the other benefits of being an instructor?

  • As part of a worldwide organization, teaching opportunities are available outside Canada, in the Caribbean, and other countries worldwide.
  • Wide array of resources for instructors are available on the SJA intranet
  • A national instructor newsletter.
