James A. Albery Youth Bursary Program

The James A. Albery Memorial Fund is a significant initiative offering bursary funding for youth members of the St. John Ambulance Brigade pursuing post-secondary education. This fund opens doors to educational opportunities, supporting the next generation in their academic endeavours. We warmly encourage eligible youth members and interested parties to delve into the details of our bursary program and consider applying to further their educational goals within a supportive community committed to their success.

Before you start:

Learn the Application Criteria

Applicants must:

  • Be currently active in the brigade
  • Have been awarded their Grand Prior’s Badge
  • Be under the age of 21 (as of 31 July of the year of application)
  • Be entering into or currently undertaking post-secondary education
  • Express desire to continue their work with St. John Ambulance

Step 2:

Prepare Your Application Documents

    Prepare the following documents for your application:

    1. Application Form (including a 250-500 word essay)
    2. Resume
    3. Current school transcripts
    4. An outline of your program’s curriculum
    5. Reference Forms (Two individual references)

     

    We recommend requesting your school transcript and recommendation letter as early as possible to ensure a smooth application process. These documents are crucial for your scholarship application, and obtaining them well in advance will help avoid any last-minute issues.

    STEP 3: 

    Submit your Application Online

    Upload all your documents to our online intake form before each submission deadline. Please only apply to ONE scholarship per submission.

    Before receiving the Award: 

    Proof of Program Acceptance

    Successful applicants must submit proof of acceptance in the chosen program of study, final academic transcripts, and Social Insurance Number prior to an award being issued. Original documents will not be returned.

    St. John Ambulance Nursing Bursary Awards Program

    The Nursing Bursary Awards Program is designed to honour and provide financial assistance to St. John Ambulance members pursuing careers in nursing. This program underscores our commitment to the healthcare community by supporting our members' education and professional development.     • Have current St. John Affiliation
    • Be eligible for admission to a recognized university or community college in Canada
    • Confirm acceptance into the proposed program

      3. Include a photocopy of the current provincial/ territorial membership certificate, license of certificate of competence (where applicable)

      Prior’s Award Program

      The Prior's Award Program by St. John Ambulance champions lifelong learning for its members and staff. It opens doors to a wide array of learning opportunities, from internships and international exchanges to professional development and academic studies, nurturing growth and enhancing skills across the board.

      Before you start:

      Learn the Application Criteria

      Open to all St. John volunteers in Canada with at least 2 years of active involvement with the organization. St. John Councils or Branches interested in organizing an in-house training activity for their volunteer can apply. Please note this award is not retroactive.

        Prepare the following documents for your application:

        1. Application Form (including 200-word essay)
        2. Information on Learning Activity
        3. Reference Form (One individual reference)

         

        We recommend requesting your school transcript and recommendation letter as early as possible to ensure a smooth application process. These documents are crucial for your scholarship application, and obtaining them well in advance will help avoid any last-minute issues.

        STEP 3: 

        Submit your Application Online

        Upload all your documents to our online intake form before each submission deadline. Please only apply to ONE scholarship/bursary/award per submission.

        Before receiving the Award: 

        Proof of Program Acceptance

        Successful applicants must submit proof of acceptance in the chosen activity, a current photo along with permission to use this photo, and Social Insurance Number prior to an award being issued. Original documents will not be returned.
        Upon Completing of Learning Activity: 

        Evaluation of the learning experience

        Award Recipients will be required to submit an evaluation of the learning experience, describing how the experience has made a difference both personally and to the organization. This evaluation is due within 4 weeks of completing the activity. Applicants understand that their evaluation will be used on the SJA website and in the St. John newsletter.
